Node.js Design Patterns (3rd Edition)
A deep guide to writing scalable Node.js applications: the event loop, streams, asynchronous control flow and the design patterns that fit them.
How it shaped my work
Most of my backend years were spent in Node.js and TypeScript, and this book filled in the parts I had picked up by breaking things in production. The chapters on streams and asynchronous control flow changed how I handle large data: process it piece by piece with backpressure, instead of loading everything into memory and hoping.
It also made me careful with concurrency limits. Running a thousand promises at once is easy in Node and rarely what you want. That lesson carried straight into workflow automation, where I now set explicit limits on parallel calls to external APIs.
