Becoming a Technical Leader
This book is a must-read for anyone who wants to become a technical leader. It's full of practical advice and real-world examples that will help you become a better leader.
How it shaped my work
Weinberg's point that leadership is about creating an environment where others can solve problems changed how I run design sessions. I used to arrive with the architecture already drawn. Now I bring the constraints and the trade-offs, and let the team draw it with me.
His MOI model (motivation, organization, ideas) is also a useful self-check. When a project stalls, it is rarely the ideas. More often, people don't see why it matters, or nobody owns the next step. I ask those two questions before I ask for more technical detail.
